The Ruger LCP 380 is a hammer-fired (DA), blow-back operated, semi automatic pistol developed by Sturm, Ruger & Co., a popular American firearms manufacturer. Ruger introduced the .380 version of the LCP model back in 2008 and it quickly became one of the most popular pocket-sized pistols ever produced. The abbreviation in the pistol’s name stands for Lightweight Compact Pistol, which in itself suggests that this model is designed solely for the purposes of everyday concealed carry.

Just like the model's name suggests, the Ruger LCP 380 is chambered for the .380 ACP. The pistol comes with a tiny single stack magazine that takes in 6+1 rounds of this ammo. While 6 rounds isn’t much and the .380 ACP is a relatively weak cartridge, the pistol’s firepower and capacity are more than enough to fulfil the pistol’s main purpose - self-defense.

The Ruger LCP is categorized as a pocket-sized handgun. The overall length of the LCP is 5.15 inches and the pistol’s barrel is 2.75’’ long. The pistol’s frame is made of glass-filled nylon and so are the grips. The Ruger LCP380 comes with a fixed front and rear sight system and the rear part of the slide is serrated.
